While you would have seen a snippet of Holyrood Palace in my previous blog here is a closer look at the beautiful gardens and the Holyrook Abbey. The Abbey has been ruined since the 18th century and sits right on the edge of Holyrood Palace. Entrance to the gardens and Abbey are included in the ticket price for the Palace but you can pay extra and take a tour of the gardens. I chose to make my own way around the gardens and it was lovely to have some quite time. The audio guide that guides you through the Palace also includes the Abbey and Gardens so as you wander around your still getting information on the beautiful garden and Abbey. The gardens are only open in the summer season when they are in their full splendor but it would be silly to work your way through the palace and not spend some time outside in the sunshine.
