Due to the Australian Government travel warnings in place at the moment for Burma/Myanmar I had quite an interesting journey recently. I was heading to Myanmar for a 6 day sailing adventure but had to meet my tour in Phuket and travel as part of the group into Myanmar. After a day of traveling from Phuket and staying over night in the boarder town of Ranong the real adventure started. We all jumped in a tuk tuk and traveled to the pier were we passed Thai immigration. We then had a 20min boat ride in a long boat out through open sea to the Myanmar port town of Kawthoung. We made several stops for immigration on both the Thai and Myanmar side and traveled through quite open water. I was definitely glad when we were handed life jackets. It was an even better moment when we saw the beautiful catamaran that we would be spending our next six days on.
