Ta prohm is definitely my favourite temple in the Angkor world heritage site. Most people will recognise this temple from the film Tomb Raider and there was a giant line up to get a picture in front of the famous tree from the film. There are so many amazing, peaceful areas to this temple and the tall trees keep the whole area cool so it’s a great place for afternoon strolls to get away from the Cambodian heat. There is also a great restoration project at work at this temple. It is a joint venture with the Indian Government and they are reconstructing the temple from the rubble. This is one of the best reconstructions I’ve seen as very little new stone is required and it’s really hard to tell which sections have been re built except that they are signed. If you can only make it to a few temples on your trip to Angkor you really can’t miss Ta prohm.
