Chinese New Year

I was fortunate enough to spend the Chinese New Year in Asia again this year. Last year I was in Vietnam and this year Cambodia. We got to be involved in a whole bunch of different festivities including a night clubbing with the younger generation of Cambodians during the New Year period. The bit I liked the most was when we went back to the military village and were taken to the primary school there. The locals were setting up a shrine for the festivities complete with food offerings. We were asked to help pick petals from lotus flowers to be used as part of the festivities. It was a lovely afternoon sitting around on rugs talking to the locals about what they were looking forward to as part of the new year celebrations.
